A Really Important Person (6)

Hearing those words, Gu Yusheng’s expression calmed, and after a long while, he finally spoke, his tone indifferent, “I don’t know.”

“But…” The space between Gu Yusheng brows moved slightly and he stopped speaking after only saying that one word.

The person he was exchanging letters with was called “Little A”.

From Little A’s letters, he could make out that it seemed that he had sent letters to Little A first on his own accord.

He didn’t have any impression that there were any gaps in his memory. But he could never quite understand why he would take the initiative at that time to write letters to the person called Little A.

Because of his family, he had never liked telling other people his thoughts and worries and also felt that it was somewhat difficult to speak out about that sort of sentimental stuff. Perhaps he, at the time, using the alias Mr S, purely wanted to find a pen-pal, who had absolutely no relation to him, to unburden the load in his mind?

But, whatever the case, that pen-pal called Little A had accompanied him for a long seven years… Even though Mr S and Little A had never met and didn’t know each other, through this very long passing of time, Little A had given Mr S a lot of true and subtle warmth…

Gu Yusheng thoughtfully tilted his head, staring outside the window, looking as if he was trying seriously to think up an adjective. After a while, he finally continued his sentence, “The recipient of these letters would be considered… a really important person to me?”

The volume of his last few words were very quiet, as if he questioning himself.

Lu Bancheng couldn’t catch it, and asked, “Hm?”

Hearing Lu Bancheng’s voice, Gu Yusheng snapped out of his daze, shook his head at Lu Bancheng, said “Nothing”, and then continued looking at his laptop.

Lu Bancheng could see that Gu Yusheng wasn’t willing talk more about the ‘Pen-pal Letters’, and tactfully stopped talking. He started watching a soccer match on his phone. He had only watched for a few minutes when his phone started vibrating in his palm.

His phone started ringing immediately after. The match was covered up by the incoming call screen, and Lu Bancheng who was at an exciting part of the match couldn’t help but complain, “Who is it? The match was getting intense!”

He said while glancing at the screen, and then blurted out, “A call from Xiao Kou?”

When Gu Yusheng, who was in the middle of seriously doing work on his laptop, heard the two words “Xiao Kao” brow bone distinctly moved, and his typing was no longer as fluid as before.

Lu Bancheng was probably worried that answering the call would disturb Gu Yusheng, so he raised his phone, stood up, and answered the call, walking away while he spoke into the phone. “Xiao Kou… What made you suddenly think of calling me? …Are you inviting me out to eat…?”

Although Lu Bancheng had put some distance between them, his voice still clearly reached Gu Yusheng’s ears. Gu Yusheng’s typing fingers slowly halted, and he was no longer as focussed, his attention continuously drifting towards Lu Bancheng’s voice.

“You needed to find me for an official matter? You want me to help? Sure… Tell me… No no no, I’m not busy right now…”

Liang Doukou called Lu Bancheng to ask him for his help?

The expression in Gu Yusheng’s eyes dimmed and his brows and eyes flickered. Without thinking, he closed the email client on the screen and opened out another program, and quickly and effortlessly typed a few times. A few seconds later, Lu Bancheng’s other work cellphone, which was on the coffee table, rang. Immediately after, Lu Bancheng’s home phone also started ringing.
